The first tournament of the new year was the Sentry Tournament of Champions held on the Plantation Course in Kapalua on Maui, Hawaii. Starting the day five shots out of the lead and then opening with a bogey, Xander Schauffele (-23) faced an eagle putt on the final hole to set a new tournament low score but had to settle for a birdie and a record equalling 62 to claim his fourth tour title. Overnight leader and fellow American Gary Woodland (-22) had a putt on the final hole to force a playoff but unfortunately he missed and again found himself a disappointing runner-up. Justin Thomas (-18) from the USA closed with a 65 to be alone in third place. Tied for fourth place after closing with a 67 was Australian Marc Leishman (-15) along with American Dustin Johnson and Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy who played in the final group but could not get his putter to behave and closed with a 72. The only other Aussie in the field was Jason Day (-11) who closed with a promising 66.

You can't do that anymore!

Spin that disc!

One of the first golf videos I ever watched (as a right handed player) stressed the importance of swinging with the left arm only to help understand weight transfer and the correct way to release the club. Over the years, most professionals have made it known that golf is a right handed game. I recently spent the day on the beach playing with a Frisbee and it made me wonder if I may be better off trying to play golf left handed or alternatively start throwing the Frisbee with my left hand. What do you think?

If you want to improve your game, give us a call on 95173471 and make an appointment for a lesson with David.
